We are grateful to the many members of the Poet Community who have taken time to communicate their concerns to the Whittier College Board of Trustees. With permission of the authors, we are sharing some of these letters (linked below).
We encourage you to write to each Board member to express your views. It is important to ensure every Trustee has the opportunity to hear from the Poet community directly as they are legally accountable as individuals to serve the interests of Whittier College.
BoardSource says it this way:
Fiduciary duty requires board members to stay objective, unselfish, responsible, honest, trustworthy, and efficient. Board members, as stewards of public trust, must always act for the good of the organization, rather than for the benefit of themselves. They need to exercise reasonable care in all decision making, without placing the organization under unnecessary risk.
